About Scarborough
Stunning scenery, glorious beaches, loads to do and see ' is it any wonder that people have been flocking to Scarborough for nearly 400 years now'
Scarborough's is a story of many 'firsts'. The town became known as probably the world's first seaside resort back in the 1600s, when the health-giving properties of the Spa waters were discovered. Bathing machines to preserve swimmers' modesty as they took to the sea were first seen here. And by the mid-1800s, with the coming of the railways and the popularity of sea bathing on the rise, Scarborough was the venue for two of the world's first purpose-built hotels, The Grand and The Crown.
But despite its rich history, Scarborough doesn't live in the past. The town is constantly innovating to keep its place as one of the most popular holiday destinations in the UK
